When I was a boy
Daddy said to me
Son there’s two things in life
That are guaranteed
Death and taxes
It’s the way it is
Make smart choices
Keep yourself fit
From an early age
I was working hard
When I got old enough
I found a real job

When they handed me
My first pay check
I went to the boss
Confused as heck
Said excuse me sir
Can you tell me
What happened to the money
I earned last week
He gave a sad smile
Said pull up a chair
I’ll try to explain
How life isn’t fair

There’s an agency
In the government
Called the IRS
And they seem hell bent
To punish us all
Both rich and poor
They’ve got more power
Than the Supreme Court
It’s a crying shame
The lives they’ve wrecked
While our government
Couldn’t care less

It’s the citizens
Who bear this cost
As congress sticks
It’s head in the trough
Politicians don’t care
About being statesmen
They just want to win
The next election
They stay in
Washington, D.C.
Look down their nose
At folks like you and me

He said it may change
But we need a plan
A fair means to pay
For our great land
Even if we had it
He just didn’t know
If American’s have
The will to vote
I thanked him then
Tried to understand
How financing our Nation
Got so out of hand

I knew he was right
So I prayed some day
Somebody would find
A better fiscal way
That was years ago
Now it’s grown worse
A lot of folks
Are gonna’ lose their shirts
Medicare’s ready
To take a dive
Social Security
Is next in line

Politicians continue
To tax and spend
Half don’t even care
About our Nation’s defense
Government’s growing
It’s so obscene
Still selling
FDR’s Ponzi scheme
So drunk with power
It ain’t even funny
They don’t comprehend
It’s not their money

One day as I drove
Down the open road
Searching for stations
On my radio
I happened to hear
A guy named Boortz
Mention the FairTax
In his discourse
The more he talked
The more I listened
To a bright idea
Words of wisdom

Such a brilliant plan
Through and through
It made total sense
I knew it was true
So I went to the store
And bought The FairTax Book
I couldn’t stop reading
It had me hooked
I learned the reasons
For the mess we’re in
How the FairTax restores
Financial freedom again

The FairTax Book
Is a new revelation
An honest method
To bankroll our nation
It liberates us
From the grasp
Of special interest groups
And political hacks
Those who ignore it
Are gonna’ miss the boat
Read it yourself
Then get out and vote
